From September 16, 1996, to July 23, 2021, Sheindlin presided over her own court show, Judge Judy. The show spent its entire original run as the highest Nielsen-rated courtroom series. During much of that time, the series was the highest Nielsen-rated program in daytime television and a top performer in syndication. The series won three Daytime Emmy Awards.
Through starring on Judge Judy, Sheindlin became the longest-serving television arbitrator in courtroom-themed programming history, a distinction that earned her a place in the Guinness World Records in 2015. She has additionally received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2019 for her work.
